In the NHL and NBA, there is no live playoff board to move this week; the action is all in MLB playoff odds, where a few contenders are tightening their grip and one familiar name is sliding.
MLB: Milwaukee and Tampa Bay are separating; Houston is not
Milwaukee Brewers have turned a 96-58 record into a playoff chance and a league-best 101 projected wins. That is the profile of a team still gaining ground in late September, not simply holding position.
Tampa Bay Rays sit at 93-60 with a playoff probability, while the New York Yankees are also locked in at with a 94-64 record. Those are the cleanest risers in the field: both have already crossed the line, and both sit in the top tier of the board.
The danger zone is clear too. Houston Astros are only to make the playoffs despite a 77-77 record and 81 projected wins. That is a much thinner margin than the teams around them, and it makes Houston the week’s biggest faller.
