At 106 games into the MLB playoff odds race, Milwaukee Brewers (66-39, 90–100%) keep looking like the league’s safest bet, and Sunday’s 11-2 win over Colorado was the loudest result on the board. The Brewers already own a 99-win projection and a 10–20% title chance; Colorado (42-65, 0–10%) is buried with no realistic path left.

Biggest swing: Milwaukee buries Colorado

Milwaukee’s blowout over Colorado was the day’s clearest mismatch, and it did not change the standings picture so much as confirm it. The Brewers remain the only team at 90–100% playoff odds, while the Rockies’ 0–10% chance reflects a season that has long since slipped away.

That kind of margin also matters in the projection model. A 99-win forecast and league-best certainty give Milwaukee room to absorb a bad week; Colorado has run out of runway at 42-65.

Close games keep the middle of the bracket tense

Tampa Bay Rays (62-43, 90–100%) protected their position with a 1-0 win over Cleveland, a clean result that nudged the Cleveland Guardians (54-53, 50–60%) further into the squeeze. Tampa Bay’s 92-win projection and 0–10% championship odds say they are more than a bubble team; Cleveland’s 83-win projection still leaves them very much alive, but only barely above coin-flip territory.

Pittsburgh Pirates (54-52, 30–40%) outlasted the Chicago Cubs (59-46, 80–90%) 8-7 in the tightest game of the day. Chicago still has the stronger profile at 88 projected wins, but this loss is a reminder that every one-run result can narrow the gap in a crowded race.

Boston Red Sox (54-50, 70–80%) handled Toronto 6-1, a win that keeps Boston in the thick of the postseason field while the Toronto Blue Jays (48-58, 0–10%) remain nearly out of time. Boston’s 85-win projection gives them a real foothold; Toronto’s 74-win projection and 0–10% playoff odds leave almost no margin for error.

Atlanta, Washington, San Diego and Cincinnati stay in the chase

Atlanta Braves (62-43, 90–100%) beat Baltimore 3-2 and continue to pair strong results with elite odds. Their 94-win projection and 0–10% championship chance make them one of the National League’s most dangerous teams.

Baltimore Orioles (51-55, 10–20%) could not cash in on a close game, and their 78-win projection shows why the climb is steep. They are still hanging around, but Sunday was a missed chance.

Washington Nationals (54-52, 20–30%) beat Arizona 10-7 to keep their postseason probability in play. The Arizona Diamondbacks (55-51) were not given an odds update here, but the seven-run loss still stings in a race this compressed.

San Diego Padres (53-53, 20–30%) topped Miami Marlins (52-54, 10–20%) 5-3, while Cincinnati Reds (49-55, 0–10%) beat St. Louis Cardinals (53-52, 20–30%) 5-3. San Diego is still on the fringe but has more room to work with than Miami, and Cincinnati’s win barely moves the needle from the bottom.

What’s next

The next stretch matters most for the teams hovering around the cut line: Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Washington, San Diego, St. Louis, Baltimore, and Miami. Milwaukee and Atlanta can keep stacking wins at the top, but the real pressure is on the clubs with odds in the 20s and 30s, where one bad series can turn a chase into a climb too steep to finish.
