Clinch ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application for tracking playoff probabilities across NHL, NBA, and MLB.

Information We Collect

Device Identifiers

We collect your device identifier (Android ID on Android devices, or a DeviceCheck token on iOS devices) to:

• Create and identify your account without requiring email registration
• Persist your data and preferences across app reinstalls
• Enforce free tier limitations (one team per sport)
• Sync your subscription status across devices

Push Notification Tokens

If you enable notifications, we collect your Expo push token to send you:

• Game start notifications for your followed teams
• Game end notifications with results and playoff impact
• Significant playoff probability changes
• Clinching or elimination alerts

User Preferences

We store your preferences including:

• Teams you follow across NHL, NBA, and MLB
• Notification settings per team and per sport
• Display preferences (theme, layout options)
• Sport selection preferences

Subscription Status

We store information about your subscription status (free tier, NHL Pro, NBA Pro, MLB Pro, or All Sports Bundle) to provide the appropriate features and team limits.

Usage Analytics

We collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how users interact with the app, including:

• Screen views and navigation patterns
• Feature usage frequency
• App performance metrics
• Crash reports for debugging

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide our services: Track your followed teams and display real-time playoff probabilities for NHL, NBA, and MLB
• Send notifications: Alert you when your teams' games start and end, with playoff impact analysis
• Deliver AI insights: Generate personalized explanations of playoff probability changes
• Manage subscriptions: Verify your subscription status and provide appropriate features
• Enforce free tier limits: Track team changes for free users (one team per sport)
• Improve the app: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features and fix issues
• Provide support: Help resolve any issues you report

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Clinch:

• Supabase (supabase.com/privacy) - Database storage and backend services
• Expo (expo.dev/privacy) - Push notification delivery and app infrastructure
• RevenueCat (revenuecat.com/privacy) - Subscription management and receipt validation
• Sentry (sentry.io/privacy) - Error tracking and crash reporting
• OpenAI (openai.com/privacy) - AI-powered insights generation (no personal data shared)
• Apple/Google - Payment processing for subscriptions

Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing their data practices.

Data Storage and Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

• All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
• Database access is restricted and protected by authentication
• We use Supabase's Row Level Security to ensure users can only access their own data
• Regular security reviews and updates
• No storage of sensitive payment information (handled by app stores)

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:

• User preferences: Retained until you request deletion or 2 years of inactivity
• Push tokens: Updated when you reinstall; old tokens are automatically invalidated
• Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized after 90 days
• Subscription history: Retained for billing reconciliation purposes

Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. Upon receiving a valid deletion request, we will:

• Delete your user preferences and followed teams within 30 days
• Remove your push notification tokens immediately
• Delete your device association from our systems
• Remove your data from all backups within 90 days

Note: We cannot delete transaction records held by Apple or Google for your subscription purchases.

Children's Privacy

Clinch is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place when transferring data internationally.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your data
